DJ Ian Charlton / DJ
DJ Ian Charlton is a radio DJ on WDSR Radio. He is also the host of the popular throwback radio show, The Golden Era: Back In The Crates which broadcasts live on Thursday nights at 9pm EST right here on WDSR Radio.
DJ Ian Charlton is named after Ian Anderson from the legendary band, Jethro Tull, Ian Charlton’s roots stem from experiencing multiple genres of music such as Classic Rock and Soul. Getting his feet wet from running a Friday night radio show on KDNE in Crete, NE at Doane College that spun hip hop and r&b, DJ Ian Charlton decided he was all in.
He ended up selling his first car to buy a set of turntables which he carried back and forth in a duffle bag to NE on an Amtrak train to Lincoln. With the turntables in his possession, DJ Ian Charlton dropped out of school to pursue DJ’n and production of hip hop records as part of the Radio Bums record pool, that was music used prior to mp3 releases spun at The Player’s Club in Boulder, Co for sorority girls. Ian remembers it being the worst job ever… lol.
As most DJs end up doing, Ian Charlton of course ended up creating countless mixtapes and practice tapes. He also handled a lot of wedding receptions, graduations, house parties and more. Real DJs know the struggle. All of this was the preamble to DJ Ian Charlton beginning to produce beats by remixing some great music and albums such as Jay-Z’s Black Album, which he called The ObsidIan Charlton Album.
